iGot You, Babe

I have to first say WOW and THANK YOU for all of your awesome comments yesterday. Once again, it’s so nice to know that I am not alone and so many others struggle with similar issues. Your comments and thoughts really, really meant a lot to me… much more than you know! While I wouldn’t wish it (the issues I have with my body) on anyone, it’s just helpful to know that so many of you “get it.”

🙂

SO….

After a crap-tastic day at work of dealing with teenage attitudes (I was seriously about to LOSE IT), I unwound with an hour of yoga with Bob (hey look- you can get a little preview of it here!). Ahhhh, yes. Yoga always helps. And the day just got better after that.

After leaving work, I was off to THE MAIN EVENT.

Hello, lover.

(It looks kind of beige- but it’s really white.)

Yesterday marked the date that I was eligible for my NEW EVERY TWO upgrade with Verizon! YES!!!! I have been wanting an iPhone ever since they came out. But, I refused to switch my service to AT&T and wanted to stick with trusty Verizon. I kept hearing rumors that Verizon would eventually get the iPhone, but it never happened. So, I bought a Droid 2 two summers ago. And then, of course, the iPhone came out a few months later.

So after being very patient, I finally got my iPhone. And I love it. I look forward to playing with it and telling Siri to do all sorts of dumb things for my entertainment.

I even got a snazzy cover for it:

I’m not too crazy about this cover, actually, but there weren’t a lot to choose from. I’m sure I can find a cooler one online. Or, as the salesguy said, I can get a bunch of them to match outfits and stuff. I just looked at him and said “Dude. I’m not high maintenance like that.”

The first photos I took were of the dogs, of course.

Lance does this thing where he paws at the door like he wants to be let in, and then he just sits there in front of the open door, staring. What a weirdo.

I took a few photos of them this morning while I was getting ready… I’m not super impressed with the quality using indoor lighting. But, it is better than the quality from my previous phone.

And I also took photos of my yummy dinner last night:

(Again, the quality isn’t very impressive- but it looks great on the tiny iPhone screen.)

Perfect tofu never disappoints! I mixed it up in a bowl with broccoli, carrots, freekeh and chopped peanuts, which were simmered in a sauce containing peanut flour, Bragg’s liquid aminos, siracha, sesame oil, honey and rice wine vinegar.

I also highlighted my hair last night. I pretty much always do this myself (and have been since high school) unless my friend Krista does it for me (who also does a really good job). I have to admit- I always like the way it turns out when I use a box and apply it myself- and it’s way cheaper that way.

Forgive the static and flyaways. It was hard to take a picture of this quickly this morning, and I have absolutely no “product” in my hair.

And just for a few more happy thoughts, here are some blogs that I have been lovin’ on for a while and probably haven’t mentioned before:

My Marble Rye

Diana broke my heart when she took a hiatus from blogging shortly after I discovered her, but she’s BACK. And hilarious and right on as ever. And she has no filter, which I LOVE.

No Sugar Sweet Life

Kelly is my new soul sister. I am really looking forward to meeting her at Blend in a few weeks! Her recipes always look amazing and beautiful. And her little girl is pretty darn adorable, too.

Back to her Roots

I’ve been reading Cassie’s blog for a while now, but I just need to point out how wonderfully awesome she is, in case you don’t already know.

Corrie Anne

This is another blog that I’ve been reading for a while, and I LOVE this girl. She is just so adorable and has such a great outlook on life. And her relationship with her husband is so cute, that it just borders on making you want to puke (but in a good way!).

Three out of four of these bloggers live in Colorado, and in fact- a ton of the bloggers that I follow are from Colorado. Maybe that’s because Colorado is awesome and where I really need to be living!

Have a FANTASTIC FRIDAY!

Do you have an iPhone? What are some blogs you’ve been loving lately?

what box product did you use on your hair? I am now at the point where I refuse to pay for highlights. The price is something we can no longer budget for and your hair looks fabulous.

I follow a lot of Orthodox Christian, homeschooling, and foodie blogs. Yours 🙂 Coffe Cake and Cardio, Annie’s Eats, How Sweet it Is, Skinny Taste, Dashing Dish…seriously too many to mention.

Yes we have an iPhone. LOVE IT!!!!! I love the Reminder app, MyFitness Pal, iMenses (yes I track my cycle on my phone) and of course Angry Birds.

    Have a great day

I use frost & glow highlight! I just do the cap/pull-through method. Works every time! And I get two uses out of the box- which is around $10!

  2. Your life will never be the same, now that you have an iPhone. And I totally agree with you on the indoor lighting front, but there are some pretty good apps you can get for like $0.99 that help filter out the bad photo stuff. I’m usually just too lazy to use them, haha (Camera+ is one that I really like.) Your highlights look great! I would never have guess home dye job, good job!!

  3. Your new iphone looks fun! There should be a “macro” setting on the phone’s camera, that might take better food close-ups when you have time to play around with it. And btw, I totally know that Lance look. My doggie does the SAME thing!! It means: COME OUTSIDE AND PLAY WITH ME MOMMA. I scratched, yes. But I don’t actually want to come in. I want YOU to come out!!

Your hair looks beautimous. Maybe when you live in Colorado (soon please) you can show me how to do this. I only tried dying my own hair once and it was a miserable disaster. I was trying to go to dark brown (as my hubby generally likes darker hair than blonder). I only had the stuff on for like 8 minutes, way shorter than you’re supposed to.. and my hair was already almost black. I quickly rinsed it off but the damage was done. This light skinned blue eyed momma had MIDNIGHT BLACK hair. And it just happened to be around October, so everyone asked me if I did it for Halloween. Um, NO! DIS-ASTER I tell ya. So now IF I get anything done, I leave it to the professionals 🙂

Thanks for the shout-out girlie about my blog. I like how you highlighted a few like that. I might have to borrow that idea one of these days 🙂

And I love your description of Corrie Anne! Ha!! Her and Kevin have on occasion made me want to puke too with their cutesieness 🙂 And their simultaneous boxjumps!!! -Kelly

  4. After my wedding and you help me highlight my own hair?

  5. What box product do you use? It looks great, girl! You’ll have to do a tutorial of how you do it–I think we’d all love it! I’ve never highlighted (or done anything) to my hair, so it’d be great to know!

YAH for the new iphone!!! I will be patient as well now too…. 🙂 hopefully july’/aug I’ll get one!

  6. It must have been upgrade day yesterday… I went with my mom to get her iPhone upgrade (she had a BlackBerry). Isn’t the iPhone life-changing?! Are you in Instagram yet? Find me!!! 🙂

Thanks for the new blog suggestions – I’m so excited to meet everyone in less than a month!!!

  7. The tofu looks awesome- thanks for the link to recipe too! I’ve been debating getting a tofu XPress but the blog world seems to be giving it rave reviews so maybe I’ll spring for one…

  8. Tiffany says:

OMG i am so jealous of your iPhone! I have been up for an upgrade but I jut cant justify spending that much on a phone right now you know? But as soon as I get it I know I will be obsessed. Hooray for tofu! I have some pressing in the fridge right now. And less than a month til BLEND—hooray!!!

    • Lauren says:

I waited until I got the discount for mine- even though I wanted it way before that! And my Droid started to not work anymore a week before i got the iPhone. But the waiting was worth it!
And a little over TWO WEEKS, sister! It’s going to be surreal!!

  9. Tiffany says:

    PS-Hair looks awesome!

  10. Thanks for the shout out, lady! And welcome to the awesome land of iPhonerificiness. 🙂

  11. Corrie Anne says:

Wooo!! Congrats on the iPhone. SO WONDERFUL!! Lol. And I am soo impressed that you can highlight your own hair. Total moneysaver!! Wow. Thanks for the blog shotout… haha. 🙂 🙂 I love it!

  12. You have to get all the game apps and play me!! Like Scramble with Friends and Draw Something! I’m lindsays_list!

    • Lauren says:

Ugh, Janetha got me hooked on Draw Something!!! I can’t get away now! I actually don’t have it on my iPhone, only on my iPad. I’m afraid to put it on my iPhone- I’d never step away!

  13. Uh alot of people read your blog…my stats are pretty high today…and did I already mention that I heart you? See you in July? We’ll make our meet up happen!

  14. marie says:

Don’t have an iphone (or a cell at all), LOVE your hair and cannot believe you did it yourself, very talented Lauren, looks way better than a professional job in my opinion & I haven’t read any of those blogs but will upon your reccomendations, have a fantastic weekend!

  15. Michelle says:

Oh my gosh! I had an *awful* day at work yesterday too!! I was ready to walk out and quite right then a there. (Actually, we just had a kindergarten teacher walk out on Tuesday in the middle of the day!)

    • Lauren says:

Oh, man- is it really that bad?? Is it the kids? Admin? A combination of everything?

      • Michelle says:

Ugh, where do I begin? The kids are awful!! (And I feel bad saying that because I know it always isn’t their fault. . .yet it is because they are the ones making poor choices.) Also the principal is quite the guy–micro-manager, extremely high expectations, and just a tool. (I know that’s really mean of me to say, but I’ve been frustrated so long that I can’t even put my frustrations into words anymore.)

  16. i’m due for an upgrade in october and i have the date circled on my calendar! I can’t wait to dump my blackberry and finally get an iPhone!

    • Lauren says:

I had a blackberry for two years before my droid (which I had for two years) and while the blackberry keyboard is awesome, I was SO happy to get rid of that thing!!!
